TV air and new records
1956 was a turning point in the fate of Elvis Presley, bringing him not only national but international fame. Presley's first single for RCA was the sensual blues song «Heartbreak Hotel». Song did not have anything in common with the previous record for Sun Records, and it alerted RCA, but their fears were in vain: the single won 1 st place and went to number over a million copies. Following singles were released «Blue Suede Shoes» and «I Want You, I Need You, I Love You», as well as the first long-album ( «Elvis Presley»), for the first time in the history of sound recording too passes million mark. Then followed the first TV air, which caused shock in America and the instant love of thousands of American teenagers. Music, clothing, movement, manners and youthful Elvis - everything was different from the usual country artists and even more so - to pop singers like Sinatra. At the same time raise a wave of indignation from the older generation who saw in the Presley's vulgarity and lack of talent (especially the negative reactions caused TV Milton Berl, which in June 1956, Elvis performed for the first time «Hound Dog»), which created the image of Elvis Presley «rebel », although the singer has such a feel, and no sooner was obviously in their manners. An example related to the singer can be a TV host Ed Sullivan, who originally said that Presley has no place in his show, but then not only invited the singer on a few transfers, but said in a live broadcast, that Elvis Presley «really decent young man».
In summer 1956, emerging the single «Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel», a fall of the second album «Elvis» - both won 1 st place, by that time, Presley reached international popularity through the release of records in foreign countries (especially - and fairly stable - in Presley's success was and remains in the UK and Germany). In October, the American magazine «Variety» Presley called «the King of rock'n'roll». At the same time, Colonel Tom Parker became the sole manager of Elvis Presley.
